"Just got home from an early show at Lee's Palace by the terrific Simple Damned Device, actor/voiceman/poet Lawrence Bayne's mad hard rock circus, replete with sexy side shows, the thickest of rhythm and various and sundry freaks and high-wire acts. As ringmaster, though, Lawrence is also the main attraction -- a beguiling, dangerous and dead-on classic front man.

The most demented of dynamos, this guy.

Simple Damned Device is a band that I love. A little bit of early Pink Floyd, a little bit of Weather Report, a bit of The Ramones, a bit of the latest King Crimson, and a bit of Cream all mixed together into their own unique sound which has rock and roll at its heart, but the playing and lyrics elevate it to rock and roll+.

They're a band that somehow speaks to the core of me in many ways.
