TOS

These Simple Damned Device(s) found each other in the summer of 2010.That's a story for another day.

The idea of the band's singer/lyricist, Lawrence Bayne(LFB) was to get road toughened recording savvy players together from widely varied genres(Blues/Folk/Soul/Metal) combined with his own Goth and Punk leanings and make something that honored those styles while turning the conventions on their head.

The result has been a prodigious output of metallic ballads, lecherous lullabyes, driving dirges and original, sonic salutes to the musically diverse background of each member.

Live, they balance tight playing with unpredictability-having been known to improvise entire songs while on stage.

Bass and Percussion are the ferociously focused rhythm section  locked in at a molecular level, providing Guitarist Kevin Bell a foundation for soaring riffs and solos.. and in front, LFB.. A mercurial performer, at times threatening, fragile, and often seeming physically controlled by every rumble, crash and cry of the band.

Honoring the 70's with bands like The Stranglers,Grand Funk Railroad and Bob Mould, the sonically ferocious stage and studio vets deconstruct and deliver power chords and heavy grooves- a soundtrack of fierce blues/sludge/rock alongside forceful vocals and lyrics that are caustic, painfully funny with raw observations on Love,Lawlessness and Neuroticism.
The music is an elemental, raw, organic chaos making you want to fuck, fight or get off the fence.

                                    LFB
                                                     Frontman/Lyricist/Songwriter

As a Poet, Lyricist, Singer and Composer LFB ( a tattoo on his arm-you ask him what the 'F" stands for) has performed with the band  Control Freak in many diverse venues from  L.A and South Africa to South Dakota and Moncton, New Brunswick.  He's also a v/o artist and
was hand-picked by Gene Simmons to voice the role of "RockZilla"
in "My Dad the RockStar", a cartoon Gene created and executive produced for Nickelodeon . Lawrence demanded to also do the singing for the character and after hearing Lawrence sing a demo, Gene enthusiastically agreed.

He writes thinly veiled death threats to abusers, liars, sycophants and ex-sweethearts.. and they’re all love songs. "The minute you 'Produce' something you are lying to Creation"
